This evening we had our very own (FBS colleague) Dr Francesca Bonetti with us to talk about research impact and engagement. We considered what is impact? who are my stakeholders? and what are my priorities? in shaping our personal impact strategies. We discussed the importance of leveraging networks, focusing on hot topics and tailoring impact to our target audience. We thought about impact in terms of industry, society and academia – conceptual and instrumental impact and the traditional metrics of measuring it i.e. number of citations and journal impact factors as well as newer ways of engagement.
