The FBR huddle finished the year on a high by hosting a double-bill workshop on Getting Published with Gary Warnaby, Professor of Retailing and Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University, followed by Professor Sandy Black from London College of Fashion, founder and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Fashion Practice: Design, Creative Process and the Fashion Industry.
Gary took us through the publication process from choosing writing partners, choosing the journal, structuring and submitting the paper and managing the often complex and lengthy review process. Sandy introduced us to her journal, its aims and scope and the types of papers and topics they seek to publish. Both super important sessions in equipping those of us ambitious and curious about academic research in “how to” do it.
